Shedding our Skin

Our unit on the rainforest (Emerald Boas in particular) synchronized perfectly with the unexpected discovery of a snake skin.  Scientific serendipity!  We were thrilled to get a chance to explore the shed skin of a black rat snake which we found in our neighbor’s yard.

Additionally, we have located a few cicada shells recently which has helped the kids realize that although we don’t always see it the animals are pretty busy right now.  We are hoping for more discoveries like this one over the next couple months.
